WE BELIVE IN MATT FAWCETT'S 'I BELIEVE'

With over 100 performances notched throughout the Midwest, dynamic singer-songwriter Matt Fawcett is no stranger to festivals, charity events, churches and even house shows taking place in the living rooms of his biggest fans. His unique blend of country music with a contemporary Christian twist and a speck of bluegrass is influenced by some of the greatest songwriters and performers of our time, including Garth Brooks and Steven Curtis Chapman. Lyrics for “I Believe”:

Can’t we all just be honest We’re all not okay We’re all bruised and broken Just in different ways Can’t we all just listen take another breathe Maybe we’ll all learn We’re no different than the rest You can’t fall from where you didn’t climb You can’t escape the truth with a thousand lies Cause I believe there’s more than what you see Cause I believe the truth will set us free There’s hope for you and me Yes I believe Can’t we all just hope for The best in everyone else Instead of putting all our hope In only ourselves You can’t fall from where you didn’t climb You can’t escape the truth with a thousand lies Cause I believe there’s more than what you see Cause I believe the truth will set us free There’s hope for you and me Yes I believe No one is perfect we’ve all fallen short Thank God for his grace and mercy that takes the broken and restores Cause I believe there’s more than what you see Cause I believe the truth will set us free There’s hope for you and me Yes I believe Can’t we all just admit We won’t always get it right but I believe That we can still try We can still try What are your favorite lyrics from your latest single? “

You can’t fall from where you didn’t climb, You can’t escape the truth even with a thousand lies" What kind of pull did you feel about making the single?

I wanted people to be able to grasp and understand that the truth still has it’s say. It typically takes a longer time to come out, but if we can learn to have a little more grace with each other, maybe we can give the truth a chance to speak before we’re so enveloped by lies that we can’t even breathe. No one is perfect, but giving each other a little grace will go a long way to being able to understand each other and live at peace together. Are all your writing sessions collaborative or do you go off on your own? Do you have a preference?

Most of my writing is done solo. I’ve worked on a few collaborations, but I really like the challenges of working alone and trying to create and bring something to life that will truly comfort the afflicted and confront the comfortable. It’s a challenge for sure, but one that I really love rising up to meet.

Do you ever compare the work you bring to the table? Oh, all the time. Whenever I’m recording or writing I’m listening to other artists that inspire me and asking if someone heard my music and the very next song was a song that I jam out to, would they be on the same level, or am I asking way too much of my listeners. It’s a personal challenge to me to make sure that my music is at least as good if not better than what’s already out there. What is standard practice when it comes to if the song is really finished?

If I can listen to a song on repeat and want it to start over again without something jumping out that I think needs to be finished, then it’s ready. If I can listen to it a million times and still want it to start back over at the beginning, then I think others might want to as well. What was the goal for making the latest track?

My goal is to give people a chance to be honest with themselves. We’re all trying to figure out life and we all need a little more grace than we are typically given. Instead of trying to be first with the news, maybe we need to give the Truth a chance to have its say first. If we can, I’m sure we will find that we can live in a community so much better. Challenges to the new music that no one would know about?

There’s so much music coming out every single day that making art that can truly rise above is still a challenge. Anyone can record with the technology that is available today, which is awesome, but you still have to have something truly special to have it rise above the noise that’s out there. Favorite memory in the making of this music?

My favorite memory so far is being able to look out into a new crowd and see people wanting to sing along with songs they are hearing for the first time. It means I’m doing something right. My goal is to comfort the afflicted and confront the comfortable so if someone is feeling included in such a way that they want to sing along with a song that’s brand new, that means it’s working. :) Is there anything off the table when it comes to bringing yourselves into your music?

Not at all. I’ve written songs about a lot of things that most people might say are regrets they have. I don’t want to glorify things that I wish I didn’t do, but if there are things that I’ve learned in life, I think others have as well. I want to be vulnerable with people and connect as a fellow human. It’s real and I really think that’s what people love about my music is that it really is me. Leave us on a high note! And share some good news!

I believe you were created on purpose with a purpose and my prayer for you is that you will go, live and walk in it. I mean that, for everyone reading this. Life is hard, but we weren’t meant to walk it alone. Let’s connect and sing, walk and dance together!
