Lyrics "Be Okay" :
You’re making this so hard for me You’re always around and you hypnotize me I try to forget your name, forget your taste, forget your ways But we crawl back to each other on dark days And baby I know I know you’re no good for me You’re holding me down won’t let me fly away And baby I know your manipulative ways You’re holding me down won’t let me fly away You bring me down with your selfish eyes You leave me crying by myself at night Pull me in just to push away Leave me thinking it’ll be okay You say you love me just to feel me up You drink too much no I can’t fill your cup Pull me in just push away Oh I don’t think that we will be okay I push all your buttons And you push all of mine We always find a way to start a fight You’re toxic for my health You’re an angel but from deep in hell I loved you once more than words could say but that’s in the past baby You bring me down with your selfish eyes You leave me crying by myself at night Pull me in just to push away Leave me thinking it’ll be okay You say you love me just to feel me up You drink too much no I can’t fill your cup Pull me in just push away Oh I don’t think that we will be okay I’ve tried everything These ones just don’t feel the same I know it’s all in my brain I just got to change my ways We just weren’t meant to be I’ll love you endlessly but You make me go insane so Let’s our separate ways You bring me down with your selfish eyes You leave me crying by myself at night Pull me in just to push away Leave me thinking it’ll be okay You say you love me just to feel me up We drink too much no we can’t fill our cups Pull me in just push away But one day I will be okay
What are your favorite lyrics from your latest single?
My favorite lyrics are "you're an angel but from deep in hell." I think it encapsulates how attracted and magnified you can be towards someone, yet they are the most toxic and unhealthy for you. The devil in disguise. What kind of pull did you feel about making the single? I wrote this song from the perspective of somebody else. I actually got to sing it for them after writing it and once I saw them cry after listening, I knew that I needed to release it. I think that this song is very relatable no matter what kind of circumstance you are in. I think everyone has felt what this song talks about at least once in their life. Are all your writing sessions collaborative or do you go off on your own? Do you have a preference? All of my songs that I have released thus far have actually been solo writes. I have co-written a few songs, but tend to write mostly on my own. I find that I write the best when I am in somber moods, which is harder to express in a co-writing environment. However, I do think that co-writing is very important and can really elevate certain songs. Do you ever compare the work you bring to the table? I try not to, but I would be lying if I said that I never compare my songs to others. It is a natural human instinct to compare your work to others. That said, I think that only makes my work better because it pushes me to explore new techniques, and writing styles, and helps me always try to achieve more. I think, as an artist, if you ever feel satisfied completely, that complacency will keep you from reaching your full potential. What is standard practice when it comes to if the song is really finished? I just sit down and sing it over and over until it feels right. I'm not sure how to explain it, but I can always feel it when my songs are finished. It usually just takes a few adjustments, but I always feel it when it's done. What was the goal for making the latest track? I think my goal is to always just make feel-good music that is relatable. Even if only ten people hear my songs, I feel that I can still make an impact. I think music provides people with new perspectives and I know, for me personally, it has gotten me through so much. So, if I can offer a new perspective to even just one person, I'd feel happy about that. Challenges to the new music that no one would know about? The person that I wrote this song in perspective of is pretty close to me. So, it was challenging to write this song without airing out anyone's personal business or exposing who's perspective it might be in. That said, I think I achieved that goal. Favorite memory in the making of this music? I went to the beach the day after I wrote this song and got to sing it on the Florabama stage in Pensacola, FL in an impromptu moment! Favorite memory in the making of this music? Absolutely not! Music is about being able to talk about things in life that otherwise might be hard to talk about. Socials: Sarahjmusic.com
