THE GOALS OF LÁNRE

Musics rising star Lánre is learning about himself mentally and spiritually and it shows. His music is #GOALS. Check out this interview with the artist and if he'll be performing near you SOON!
How are you feeling about your work lyrically?
I'm in the best creative space I've ever been in! Not to toot my own horn, but lately I've been in shock listening back to songs I'm working on because the lyrics are so on point. I think I'm becoming a better storyteller because I've been doing a lot of work on myself mentally and spiritually.
Do you feel a push or a pull when it comes to writing right now?
I have so many stories I want to tell about my life and others, that I've felt more of a pull to write them. My writing process is pretty extensive, so I haven't been able to write them all into songs yet because of my busy schedule. But that pull will always be there so those songs will be made someday soon!
Are all your writing sessions collaborative or do you go off on your own as well. Do you have a preference?
I haven't had the opportunity to do many co-writing sessions yet. I've done a few with my friend and collaborator Zaya Malák who was featured on my song, Beautiful Lies, but since then it's just been me! I love writing by myself, but a goal of mine is to regularly work with other writers because it not only makes the song better, it also makes me a better writer!
Do you ever compare the work you bring to the table? How does that benefit or distract from your common goal of making great music?
I try not to compare my music with other artists' because that feels counterproductive. Each artist has their unique perspective and their own instrument to tell that perspective from, so it doesn't really make sense to me to compare. I compare my music to my old work. My goal is to blow my old songs out of the water as I become a better singer and songwriter.
What are your favorite lyrics from your new music?
My favorite line from my latest song 'No Bodies' has to be "Posting our trips, but can't tag who with. All in our sh*t damn, can we live?". It encapsulates the whole message of the song which describes a couple who just wants to live their lives privately, which I can relate to.
Is there anything off the table when it comes to bringing yourselves into your music?
No, I try to make sure everything about me is on the table when creating music nowadays. That's how you get the best songs! I'm a very private person, especially when it comes to my love life, so now I've found a way to put my dating life in my music without giving away specifics. Doing this has been creatively satisfying as a writer and also helps me express my true feelings and life in a way that doesn't feel invasive.
Leave us on a high note! And share some good news!
I'm going on the road! In the next 3 months, fans will be able to see me live in Austin for SXSW week, Atlanta, Colorado, and Los Angeles. I'm so excited to have these opportunities to perform live regularly and meet new fans in these cities. I also have a new collaboration track that is going to be coming out soon, and it's a straight banger!
