Already Late is a band shaped by a long list of genres and genders. On top of a variety of guitars, catchy hooks (in both English and Japanese), funky bass lines and drum beats as energized as a riot at a punk rock show, they have managed to find spots in their set for electronics, as well as some ukulele. Thanks to their genre-crossing and bilingual--tracks, their eccentric live shows promise to excite a diverse range of crowds.

What are your favorite lyrics from your latest single?
B-STIXX -We’re still working on the lyrics for our new single, but from our song LOSER–which we just dropped a music video for–I would say “I swear I’m going to go far”. Those lyrics are not just for anyone who has doubted us but lyrics to remind myself that regardless of what happens with our music making, I know I am going to put my 100% into this.

What kind of pull did you feel about making the single?
B-STIXX -I think what we felt was the feelings we are currently feeling. We really are making new steps towards building our band/music.
JEST A KING -We really wanted to pull from our childhood and the sounds that were around during that time.
Are all your writing sessions collaborative or do you go off on your own? Do you have a preference?
B-STIXX -I would say if one of us has an idea, we go off on our own to figure out the structure. Then we start the collaboration.
JEST A KING -We keep our writing in-house usually but we're starting to collaborate more.
Do you ever compare the work you bring to the table?
B-STIXX -Yes, of course. We always sit and dissect what's in front of us. That is what gets us to fully understand the song better.
JEST A KING -We work to make anything on the table the best it can be.
What is standard practice when it comes to if the song is really finished?
B-STIXX -I think it’s when we run out of ideas and we feel confident about it.
JEST A KING -You kinda just know... because you'll be sick of trying to make it better. Or you'll end up making it worse and go "maybe that last version was better..."
What was the goal for making the latest track?
B-STIXX -We are currently working on a new single, and the goal was to make something relatable not only to us, but anyone else who feels like they are on the verge of giving up.
JEST A KING -We really connected with it, so it's something we hope connects with others as well.
Challenges to the new music that no one would know about?
B-STIXX -Everything we make has its challenges, but this one is definitely one of our harder songs. We are throwing in new styles and techniques.
JEST A KING -You would never guess how hard it was to find the perfect door closing sound effect.
Favorite memory in the making of this music?
B-STIXX -I would say my favorite memory from making this new single so far was hearing it for the first time and learning what it’s about. It really sparked so much joy and inspiration.
JEST A KING - -Recording the skit at the beginning of LOSER-- the actors had great chemistry.
Is there anything off the table when it comes to bringing yourselves into your music?
B-STIXX -I think it depends but not really. We are always open to hearing each other's ideas as long as it's authentic.
JEST A KING - No. I feel like the table could use more of us
